FTP... What is It?
FTP is a program protocol which is used mainly through an internet network. It does it's job by sending data from one computer to another via network. FTP has it's advantages and disadvantages, like any other program. I's advantages are that it promotes the sharing of files, encourages indirect or implicit use of remote computers, and transfers data reliably and efficiently. It's disadvantages are that it uses multiple TCP connections, causing it to create problems with the firewall. This is remedied by making logic or configuration changes. Another disadvantage is that passwords and other items are sent in clear text, making it easy for eavesdroppers to attain. Things like SSL help to remedy this.
