During the Multimedia course over the current semester, I have learned a lot about the steps it takes to create a website, the different ways of creating a website, the importance of RSS, and using programs such as iWeb and Fetch. Although I had a lot of trouble in making the programs work, and needing additional work to fix the problem, I have learned how to use these programs correctly.
Over the course of the semester, I discovered how to create a website using simple TextEdit. Following the procedures of this technique allowed us to acknowledge what a paragraph, heading, working links and other features consisted of. The downfall of this is that it takes too long and can become illegible when you want to modify it.
The second method introduced us to Fetch, another program which is essential to web designs. Essentially, this method cuts down your working time by a lot and allows for more control over your customisation, which can be all done over Microsoft Word. Like using simple TextEdit, using this method is also time consuming and still limits how you customise the page.
The third method is using iWeb with Fetch. iWeb is the most simplest and easiest program I have used, where all you have to do is create a background and add stuff for a website. However, you still have to use Fetch to put it on the internet, and you have to go through several other sites to make the RSS address applicibal to your site via Web Widgets.
Speaking of RSS (Really Simple Syndication), this program is very useful when creating RSS feeds and allowing you to keep up to date with your favourite or most used site. With the Uni Macintoshes, you can access the RSS web address by clicking the RSS button, or orange wavelenghts for other brands of computers. Once you take it through a site which converts that site into a code which is applicable for Web Widgets or other program, making an RSS feed is easy. RSS can be found in sites which have blogs, emails, or other content which is being constantly updated.
This is what I have learned in the MPI course over the semester, and I hope to apply this knowledge in the near future.

RSS
RSS is a very interesting tool that i have ever worked with. First of all, it gives you the luxury of viewing the latest in your favourite website. But with all website programs like this, I find myself stuck in a mess, where Murphy's law reigns supreme. But if I get used to it, then this will be a very handy tool to have at my disposal.
Massive pain, but got there.
I had a lot of trouble with creating the website, since there were a lot of things which went wrong. For example, getting the RSS feeds from the various sites proved to be a pain, since I couldnt get them to work properly. After a while, and with John's help, I found out how to remedy this situation. From then on it was smooth sailing.

Hit Counters
A while ago I had successfully installed a hit counter to this blog. So far I hope to get more hits on my site, and not just me either. I want other people to visit my blog and my webpage. But Using hit counters are fun to use. I've yet to add the hit counter to my homepage, but I'm getting there.

RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!
I have successfully created an account on Technorati and claimed this blog as my own. From what I've seen of this I believe that Technorati will be a handy little tool in which will be used frequently. I have read the Technorati site on Wikipedia, and it states that Techno (for short) is a search engine for blogs. I believe that Techno is more than that, because a lot of people will write about a lot of things, and that other people can share their ideas on things. Essentially, its an alternate source for information on a topic. And unlike Google, all of the most relevant info is shown only. If it isn't there, you can always ask for more of a particular topic. I have no authority, and I only have one fan, which I will not say who it is. I believe I will get some authority and more fans, and if I do, I will thank them and I will give them a cherry pie via websites. Other than that, I am very excited about Techno.

FTP... What is It?
FTP is a program protocol which is used mainly through an internet network. It does it's job by sending data from one computer to another via network. FTP has it's advantages and disadvantages, like any other program. I's advantages are that it promotes the sharing of files, encourages indirect or implicit use of remote computers, and transfers data reliably and efficiently. It's disadvantages are that it uses multiple TCP connections, causing it to create problems with the firewall. This is remedied by making logic or configuration changes. Another disadvantage is that passwords and other items are sent in clear text, making it easy for eavesdroppers to attain. Things like SSL help to remedy this.

MPI104 2008 Pre-Assessment
For my Blogger account, I have made a total of 13 posts, including this one, which are all related to the tasks that were set out for me to do. For the aesthetics of my blog, I have used the template which was made by Douglas Bowman, number 897, the font that I used in my blog is Verdana, and the colours used are brown, four shades of green, white, black, red, light brown and blue. Now that I have explained the detail of my Blog, I find that blogger is the site I most use on the internet concerning the MPI course. Mainly because I post here the most.
As for Flickr, I enjoyed viewing it, for the site is very good for showing photos of interest. Once I found some photos that were funny to show, I got them uploaded onto my account. Mainly theyre from the web, which I have acknowledged and explained in the descriptions, but I have a couple of photos that are originally on my personal computer. The three links to my favorite 3 pictures are http://www.flickr.com/photos/silburnben/2453552887/, http://www.flickr.com/photos/silburnben/2454377594/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/silburnben/2453552655/.
My favourite program in the MPI course was the Del.icio.us bookmarking website. It is the most useful site that can be used on the net concerning bookmarks. I have made bookmarks for several of the other classmates' blogs, as instructed in one of the lessons, but I've also bookmarked some of my personal favourite websites. The three most favourite websites that are on my Del.icio.us bookmarks are http://www.drmcninja.com/, http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/ and http://www.youtube.com/.
